My Story

Home / My Story

Hello!

I started on this journey to share my personal life experiences, both challenges and triumphs so that others, most especially women, may find some sense of sisterhood and know that they are not alone.

I was born in the 60’s and grew up in a small rural town in Northern California. I became a mother at the age of 15 at a time when that repelled people from my life and there were not a lot of supportive resources. Pushing through the tough stereotypes and, at the time, my own poor self-image, I moved on to pursue my dream of going to college.

I was a single mother of three when I graduated from college with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. Upon graduation I secured my first out of college job, moved my kids to Las Vegas, and worked for a company involved in both the production of television shows and the installation and support of a proprietary government software application. It was not long after moving to Las Vegas that I found myself in a new position as the Director of Education for a local non-profit organization which is where my career in workforce training and development began.

I have moved around a bit since then and now live in New Mexico working for a large organization in the field of my dreams as a Talent Manager specializing in workforce engagement and development. My life has taken many twists and turns along the way, none of which I regret or would want to trade. I now have three beautiful and inspiring children and seven amazing grandchildren all of which I would never have been privileged to learn from had my journey been any different.

I have many times in my life thought that I “could not” only to discover that I could. My life is a testament to that truth. With sadness I have watched others self-create their own barriers and hope that by me being willing to be vulnerable and share of myself that I can somehow help others to remove those barriers for themselves. I have long wanted to do something with myself to share hope, resilience, and love with the world around me. Until now, not knowing how to achieve that has been my greatest struggle.

I genuinely pray this reaches all those it can help and that I can be a part of something bigger than myself. I appreciate you taking the time to learn more about me and hope that we can learn and grow together. If you ever need to contact me, I can be reached at cindy@talktocindy.org. Thank you for your willingness to seek!
